Kali Bichromium – Bichromate of Potash
Kali-bich. has a strong affinity for the mucous membranes, along with the kidneys, joints, fibrous tissues, ligaments, circulation and skin.
Like all Kalis, the Kali-bich. individual is a rule-follower and conformist, needing routine and regularity in order to feel secure. There is a strong emphasis on morality, which for Kali-bich. is a black and white issue with no room for compromise.
Physically there may be inflammation of the kidneys with gastric disturbances; cirrhosis of the liver and weakness bordering on paralysis. The mucous membranes of the airways are particularly affected, producing thick, tough, stringy and gluey discharges, either yellow (in acute illness) or white (in more chronic conditions).
Think of Kali-bich. for colds and painful sinuses with thick and stringy yellow-green smelly discharge. This is a very chilly remedy and suits those who become unwell after getting chilled, or who feel chilly while they are sick. Unusually, despite this great chilliness, the Kali-rich. patient often feels worse in the heat of summer.
