Nux Vomica – Strychnos Nux-vomica Seed
Nux-vom. has a strong affinity for the digestive system, liver, nerves, and sensory organs, with spasmodic conditions, irritability, and over-sensitivity from overstimulation or excess.
Like the plant remedies from over-indulgence, the Nux-vom. individual is ambitious, competitive, driven, and workaholic, yet irritable, impatient, and hypersensitive to noise, light, odours, or touch. There is a strong emphasis on routine disrupted by excess food, alcohol, coffee, or stress, leading to digestive upset or insomnia.
Physically there may be nausea and vomiting (especially after overeating), constipation with ineffectual urging, liver congestion, or hangovers; headaches from overwork or stimulants. Think of Nux-vom. for indigestion after rich food or alcohol, irritable bowel with piles, colds with stuffy nose at night, or insomnia waking at 3am with racing mind.
