Ledum palustre – Marsh Tea or Wild Rosemary
Ledum has a strong affinity for the eyes, face, and especially puncture wounds, bites, bruises and sprains, particularly when the affected part is cold to the touch yet relieved by cold applications.
Like the animal remedies, the Ledum individual often feels detached or isolated, with a chilly constitution despite preferring cold applications. There is a tendency toward self-neglect or aversion to washing, and symptoms may arise from injuries, animal bites, or insect stings, often progressing upward or with a sensation of coldness internally.
Physically there may be black eyes from injury, bloodshot eyes, or rheumatism driven by injury; injuries to the eyeballs or cornea. The skin is bluish or mottled, with a key feature of wounds that feel cold yet improve with cold compresses, avoiding heat. Think of Ledum for puncture wounds (nails, splinters, animal bites like rabies-like spasms), black eyes, bruises that turn black-blue, or joint sprains where the pain moves upwards.
